Mexico Makes Preliminary Anti-Dumping Ruling on Ethylene Terephthalate (PET Resin) from China
On August 9, 2024, Mexico made a preliminary determination in the anti-dumping investigation concerning Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET Resin) [Spanish: Poliéster Resina/Resina de poli (tereftalato de etileno)] originating from China, deciding to continue the investigation and imposing provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 34% to 63% on the investigated products. The specific rates for certain companies are as follows: China Resources Chemical Innovative Materials Co., Ltd. at 42%, Chongqing Wankai New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. at 37%, Wankai New Materials Co., Ltd. at 56%, Jiangsu Hailun Petrochemical Co., Ltd. at 34%, Jiangyin Xingtai New Material Co., Ltd. at 63%, Jiangsu Xingye Plastic Co., Ltd. at 45%, Jiangyin Xingyu New Material Co., Ltd. at 40%, and other exporters at 63%. The products under investigation are virgin polyester resins with an intrinsic viscosity of not less than 60 mL/g (or 0.60 dL/g), as well as mixtures of virgin polyester resins with recycled PET, excluding 100% recycled and reprocessed PET from PET bottles. The TIGIE tariff numbers for the products under investigation are 3907.61.01 and 3907.69.99. The measures will take effect from the day following the publication of the announcement and will be valid for four months.
